The Aero Jet ventilation catheter is a novel single extrusion, triple lumen PTFE jet ventilation catheter made specifically for subglottic jet ventilation. It has a larger main lumen for jet ventilation and two smaller independent monitoring lumen that can be used intraoperatively to measure both tracheal pressure & EtCO2 (or other gases), thus providing an additional layer of safety over traditional jet ventilation catheters. Additionally, on the distal end of the device, the monitoring zone is encased within the centering assembly to keep both of the monitoring lumen protected and reduce the chance of occlusion. The centering assembly (basket) has a free floating distal flex tip which allows the basket to have a "shock absorber" like movement. This allows the basket to firm up on advancement and deflect off of the anatomy for a center bias & on removal the basket will near collapse reducing the likelihood of damage to the surgical site on removal. A truly unique innovation. Designed, approved and manufactured in the USA.
The centering assembly has a free floating distal tip that allows a "shock absorber" like action. The flex flanges on the basket become firm on advancement to deflect the basket & bias the jet tube toward the center of the anatomy. The main jet lumen exits at the most distal end of the basket to promote laminar flow.
On removal, the free floating design of the flex tip on the centering assembly works in reverse and allows the basket to collapse and become near flat on extraction. This feature was designed to allow for a lower exit profile and to protect the surgical site from potential damage.
The Aero Jet is a single extrusion, triple lumen PTFE catheter with low profile (3.85mm OD). The main jet lumen of the AJVC runs from the proximal connector to the very distal tip of the basket. This design allows for greater flexibility and kink resistance. The main shaft also has a blue marker band to measure 23cm from the distal tip (jet lumen) of the device.
The proximal end of the device has three independent color coded luer lock connectors. The blue is for the main jet ventilation line. The red (tracheal pressure) and yellow (EtCO2) connect to monitoring equipment for intraoperative measurements.
On the distal end of the device, the 2 independent monitoring lumen open in the "monitoring zone" of the centering assembly. The flex flanges of the basket protect the monitoring zone from direct contact with the anatomy and mitigate potential occlusion and false readings. The main jet lumen exits at the most distal tip of centering assembly at the flex tip, allowing for laminar flow.
